Stig Nielsen heads the Office for operational risk at the Danish FSA. His office is the oversight authority for investment companies and investment banks and supervision of market risk in the major banking institutions and with IT security in the financial sector. Including lead agency oversight of shared data centers.

His Office's responsibilities also cover solvency requirements for market risks and operational risks and approving and monitoring the use of VaR and AMA models for capital adequacy of banks.

In addition, the Office is responsible for authorizing and overseeing clearing firms, including approval of foreign clearing firms.

The Office also participates in international work and performs ministerial service in the above areas. Office participates in various European groups regarding. MiFID, OTC Clearing, legal certainty and Post-trading, IT security and securities.
