How to scope and select the right controls to address Compliance. How to avoid costly control redundancies, risk and control gaps, IT Governance and Compliance failures.

IT is often trivialized in Good Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) processes. However, IT very often ends up with being a very considerable part of a GRC implementation project. The reason is mainly that most controls in today’s businesses are automated and rests on more or less well-functioning or integrated IT systems.

The right approach IT implementation requires technology to merge with process so that your company is able to perform controls consistently in order to sustain future compliance. To gain efficiency and effectiveness in the monitoring and control environment, we suggest;
  • Our angle to GRC implementation is the business angle. If the controls do not improve efficiency, automation, costs, risk mitigation, organization, integration, streamlining of processes and must be holistic.
  • Strong coordination & alignment between IT controls, business and reporting processes.
  • The usual focus is on control and compliance. Matrix & measures also need to be reengineered so that the processes are melted into your day-to-day procedures.
  • If GRC processes show a general lack of formal controls, indentify the major areas. Do not initiate a costly audit, but kick off an instant control remediation based on existing business controls and processes. If the tests fail, then initiate a walk based on revisions.
  • How to identify the practical elements of GRC issue recognition. We begin on how to prioritize the massive task of implementing or updating all of the GRC internal controls.

All of above issues are easily said than done. Seize the opportunity we provide you during the ½ day on IT issues and the IT demo’s the following day. You will be able to find a way to rethink and reorganize some of your processes – in other words how to perform Business Process Improvements prior to a GRC implementation or update.

Therefore we conduct an extra IT session (free) on the 8th June to ensure that you are dressed for the future requirements related to controls, processes and knowledge sharing activities in a GRC implementation project. Other activities during the morning session include organizing and holding training sessions and workshops and facilitating controls design and implementation.

If you want to attend the demo but cannot attend at least one module of the conference, send us an email.
